DOT- FLORIDA 2/23/09 12 months The position of Cognos Developer is for an IT professional with 3+ years in the design, development, implementation and administration of COGNOS cubes and reports in Cognos 8/ReportNet. Experience with balanced scorecards and executive dashboards. Data modeling and dimensional modeling experience, including an understanding of the star schema. Experience managing DEV, TEST & PROD environments and migration across these environments. Skills and Experience Weighting A = Candidate must have these attributes B = Management strongly desires the candidate has these attributes C = Management desires the candidate has these attributes Skills Needed A = Skills in design, development, testing, implementation and migration of reports in Cognos 8 and ReportNet A = Scripting of SQL for investigating, researching and verifying results of queries and reports A = Utilize UNIX commands to support basic functionality with files and to support the Cognos configuration and environment A = Oracle database architecture and terminology A = Working with Relational and Multidimensional data models B = Administer the Cognos suite of products A = Work well independently or as a team member A = Perform system analysis, documentation, user training and support, and system maintenance A = Translate reporting requirements and the data model and be able to convert into a Framework Manager Model to meet reporting requirements A = Support users in problem resolution including troubleshooting of operational/data issues A = Develop and maintain supporting documentation Knowledge and Experience Needed A = 3+ years experience with the Cognos 8 Framework Manager/ReportNet suite of tools on UNIX as both metadata Modeler and Report Developer A = Extensive understanding of Multidimensional Analysis A = Understand Data Warehousing best practices and associated methodologies A = In depth knowledge of the different types of data stores that make up a complete DW environment (staging, ODS, etc.) A = 1+ years experience with writing SQL queries to validate and research data in the tables A = Knowledge of UNIX commands to be able to navigate directories, invoke shell scripts, move and copy files A = Experience with Oracle 9i or 10g A = Be able to read Relational and Multidimensional models and translate this into the development of the metadata layer in Framework Manager in conjunction with the logical and physical data models B = Administration of the Portal, Users, Groups, Security, etc. A = This position will provide technical and analytical support to IT and business group(s) for various departments within the organization A = Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills A = Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with senior business and technical IT management -- THANKS/REGARDS ANDY.
