Role : SAN Engineer

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Duration :This will initially be about 6 months and will more than likely be 
extended to 3 years.

 

Windows Engineer/System Engineer/SAN Engineer:

 

Job Description

·          Perform system Administration duties focused primarily around 
storage 
related changes. Experience in configuration, troubleshooting, ticket/issue 
management, and process documentation pertaining to volume management and 
clustering 
concepts. Several years of experience performing at this level is required.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities

The following responsibilities apply to each Technical Support Team Member 
though focus on one technology over the other is acceptable

 

·         Provide expertise as a L3 pertaining to volume management activities, 
clustering, concepts, project management, and process workflow

·         Clear understanding of storage concepts, RAID, SAN, and NAS 
technologies

·         Respond to all requests from project team, client users, and project 
lead in a timely fashion

·         Respond to incident tickets communicated via pager, phone call, or 
ticketing tool

·         Manage Request for Change (RFC) ticket workflow as assigned to 
individual 


·         Assist and/or manage implementation of new environments specifically 
within the scope of storage related activities

·         Participate and/or manage server and storage migration projects 
specifically 
within the scope of storage related activities

 

TECHNICAL SKILL SET REQUIRED: 


* Experience in building, maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading: Solaris, 
Windows, HPUX, Linux OS
* Provide Advanced Storage Knowledge and Skills: Symmetrix/DMX, Clariion, NAS, 
HDS, direct attached devices, internal storage. EMC tools
* Understanding of RAID concepts and implementation
* Advanced experience of volume management using command line. In order of 
Importance:   


* Concepts, installation, upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting, replication 
(mirroring), verification
* Filesystem creation: mirroring concepts, ufs/vxfs/nfs, stripping vs 
concatenated, 
nfs mounts, plex concepts
* Veritas Foundation Suite, specifically Volume Manager and Filesystem - 
Solaris, 
Linux, and Windows
* HP-UX  LVM
* Linux volume management
* AIX volume manager
* Advanced knowledge of Clustering
* Installation
* Upgrading
* Maintaining
* Creating and developing multi-node clusters
* Troubleshooting
* Veritas Cluster
* Windows Cluster
* HPServiceGuard
* Understanding of DR concepts and basic troubleshooting
* Advanced knowledge/understanding of SRDF, Timefinder, BCV, NAS 
* NAS experience a Plus
