Role : Python developer Location : Marlborough, MA Duration: Long Term Keys to the Position: · Must have 3+ years with Monitoring Experience. We are currently working with BMC’s products but experience with other monitoring tools would suffice (CA or HP) · Must have strong scripting experience working with Python and Perl. They need to be able to modify existing code. · Must have enterprise wide experience ideally in a global environment · Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Experience with the Cloud is a big + · Ganglia and Sumo experience is a big + · This resource needs to work onsite 5 days per week (there may be some flexibility down the line to work remotely but onsite is the preference) Job Qualifications : · 3+ years hands on experience working with enterprise systems management systems and notification systems, including BMC Performance Manager (Portal) and BMC Event Manager (BEM), BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management (BPPM), or any other enterprise monitoring solution. · Previous experience creating end-to-end monitoring and management of application, network, and system health and performance in a complex network. • Experience with SNMP configurations, polling, trap receipt, and MIB compilation • Using Unix, Linux and Wintel scripting languages to perform operational tasks (shell, Perl, Python) • Ability to support Tier 1 applications in a 24x7 environment • Willingness to be designated oncall for team 1 weekend per month, supporting incident related issues and planned changes in the environment • Technical capability to work off-site and support environment remotely (outside of office) during weekend oncall coverage • Drive to seek out opportunities for improvement in technologies and systems • Provide sole support of monitoring environment during shift hours • Professionalism and/or demonstrated customer service skills • Team player • Solid communication skills (written and verbal) • Proven ability to multi-task and perform well in a face paced environment • Ability to work independently while taking direction from a remote team and remote management · Knowledge of network management platforms including but not limited to HP NNMi, Oracle Enterprise Manager, BMC Middleware Management, and other vendor specific management tools and management systems Preferred Skills : · Four-year undergraduate degree preferred • Hands on experience with MS Office products (including Visio) • Deep knowledge of system integration and networking architectures Description: Hands-on DevOps Engineer role on a team responsible for designing, supporting and deploying new monitoring software services in a large-scale global financial company network. This role will combine testing experience, software engineering skills, and deployment knowhow to verify and operate consumer oriented services in a worldwide, high-quality, tier-1 application environment. Job Responsibilities : • Design, build, test, deploy and support scalable, robust software platforms that enables ‘Monitoring as a Service’ in-house and in the cloud (Amazon Web Services). • Ready to work with and extend code for open source monitoring software like Ganglia in Perl and Python. • Integrate external monitoring tools into event management tools using scripting skills, web service API calls etc. • Automate daily monitoring tasks to maintain and audit the proper functioning of the environment. • Manage work queue for ad-hoc and change related monitoring modifications • Customize and extend existing systems management tools based on internal client and business requirements • Integrate systems management tools with key third party systems (monitoring, ticketing, and workflow) • Ensure monitoring capabilities match client expectations.
