Location Winston Salem NC Job Title: Distributed Systems Development Contractor - Java Department: Technology Report to: Director, Distributed Systems Development (Linux/Java) FLSA Status: N/A Classification: Contractor Supervises: None Position summary: ? To develop assigned software project work on-schedule, with quality, in accordance with standards and meets all requirements. ? To develop product maintenance assignments on-schedule, with quality, in accordance with standards and meets al requirements. ? To provide 3rd level software support that is performed quickly and reliably. Qualifications required: ? Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience ? 4+ years of experience developing Java applications for the Linux/Unix platform ? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills ? Professional demeanor and be able to effectively work with other staff within the organization Qualifications desired: ? Experience with: o The development of Java Services, Interfaces, Classes, and Libraries for the Linux/Unix platform o Java, J2EE v7 or higher (v8 preferred) o Eclipse o Apache, Tomcat v7 or higher o Hibernate ORM o Spring Framework (IoC, JDBC, JMS, MVC, WebSocket, RESTful Web Services) o HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, jQuery, XML/XSD/XSLT, JNDI o DB2 UDB o WebSphere MQ, Active MQ o Unit Testing, JUnit preferred o Ant and Maven o Linux Bash Scripting ? Experience in an Agile/SCRUM environment a plus ? Experience working with source control and continuous integrations tools, Team Foundation Server preferred ? Helpful to have knowledge of Automated Clearing House (ACH) or other transaction processing Essential functions and responsibilities: ? Develop assigned software projects as determined by the Strategy Committee ? Develop assigned product maintenance releases in accordance with prioritize lists of enhancements and defects ? Assist in the architecture, design and prototyping of application systems ? Assist in estimating work effort for projected development initiatives. ? Assist in peer-reviews of software deliverable to ensure they meet standards ? Participate in technology strategy and planning initiatives ? Provide testing and implementation support Success factors/job competencies: ? Proficiency in the technology platforms ? Resourceful when working independently ? Respectful of others when working collaboratively ? Easily adapt to new technology and design patterns ? Communication of progress and issues in a timely manner Physical demands and work environment: Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
