Why not cache the page in the cache.

Writing and reading cache entries is not that hard - see
PhotoMapUtils.js in photomap.mozdev.org.

Of course if the user clears the cache, your data goes away too, but
that's probably not a big deal.

Just make sure you pick a smart name for your cache entry - e.g.
cnn.com, probably not a good choice...
