If some people did want to keep using newsgroups, I wonder if there is
a free third-party site that could mirror our mailing lists?  Is this
something that Google Groups could do?
Google Groups mirrors mozilla.org newsgroups, but mozilla.org itself handles the mailing list <-> newsgroup mirroring.  Google Groups just gets a feed from the mozilla.org news server.  I'm not sure that they can get feeds directly from mailing lists, although it's worth asking.
