Berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan oleh lembaga terapi keluarga dan perkawinan yang berbasis di Amerika Serikat terhadap 716 pasangan yang akan menikah, 39 persen responden mengaku tak bahagia dengan hubungan cinta mereka. Meski demikian, para responden ini mengaku tetap akan menikahi pasangannya. Angka ini merupakan yang tertinggi di antara sembilan negara yang disurvei lembaga itu. Sedangkan untuk urusan hubungan intim, selama tiga tahun berturut-turut Singapura menduduki peringkat ketiga terendah dalam survei mengenai "negara yang aktif dalam hubungan intim". Hanya 14 persen warga Singapura yang mengaku "bahagia" dengan pasangannya. Bandingkan dengan negara AS, di mana 48 persen respondennya menyatakan bahagia.
