Suspect's uncle: We are shattered

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Relatives and friends of the four British men
suspected of carrying out the London terror bombings expressed
disbelief Wednesday.

Bashir Ahmed, the uncle of 22-year-old sports science graduate
Shahzad Tanweer told CNN: "He had everything to live for. He had no
financial difficulties. I can't see how he can have done this."

Ahmed said his nephew went to Pakistan for two months earlier this
year to study religion. But he denied that his nephew travelled to
Afghanistan and took part in training camps.

"There is no way, I have seen his passport," he told PA. "He was proud
to be British."

Ahmed said the family of Shehzad Tanweer had been "left shattered" by
the news that the 22-year-old was a suicide bomber.

He said it was hard for the family to accept their son had caused such
loss of life, telling PA: "It wasn't him. It must have been forces
behind him."

He said his nephew was intelligent, adding: "He was a very kind and
calm person. He was respected by everyone."

Tanweer was said to have loved cricket, and his friend Mohammed
Answar, 19, said they played the sport together only last week.

"It's not in his nature to do something like this, he's is the type of
guy who would condemn things like that," said Answar.

Another friend, Azzy Mohammed, 21, added: "He's the kind of person who
gets along with anyone. His sense of humor is very good. He's a sweet
lad."

Sources told PA there was "strong" forensic evidence linking him to
the blast on the Underground train near Aldgate.
