Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said cleric Hasan bin Jafar Assegaf
couldn’t attend his first questioning session at the Jakarta Police
headquarters today (Thursday March 8) due to unavoidable business.

“He has promised to come in on Monday next week,” Rikwanto told The Jakarta
Post on Thursday.

Hasan was summoned by police as a witness concerning earlier reports made by 11
of his male students, mostly underage, over allegations against him of sexual
abuse toward his students over a number of years.

Commenting on Hasan’s absence, lawyer Sandy Arifin said his client couldn’t
attend Thursday's session because he had scheduled classes and other meetings
to attend. Sandy said he had handed over the official notification regarding
Hasan's absence to the police.(dic)
