Sadar Police Station's Officer in Charge Abdul Awal said that the nearly two-hour clash, from 10:30pm to 12:00am on Sunday, at Kazirpoint area of the city had forced the law enforcers to fire teargas shells. "Two were detained." The injured were treated at the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital and various clinics in the city. Eye-witnesses said the followers of Atorshir Pir and Jaker Party activists took position at the Latifa Community Centre at Kazirpoint on Sunday afternoon and took preparations to hold a separate congregation. The news of the initiative sparked protests from the Imam-Moazzin Parishad, who brought out processions to show their stance. Clashes broke out when one of these processions went in front of the Latifa Community Centre around 10:30pm. Supporters in the procession set fire to a motorbike and more than a hundred plastic chairs. Later the situation was calmed after police reached the spot.
