Michael said that when punks came under fire from shariah police in Aceh in late 2011, support for the embattled teens poured in from overseas, including from punk groups in Russia, who sprayed graffiti on the outer wall of the Indonesian embassy in Moscow in a December protest. “How could we not care when they are facing problems there?” Michael said. Russian press attache Dmitry Solodov, who met with the protestors, said the embassy respected the act of freedom of expression by the protestors.
