Delft, the Netherlands, Sep 21 (ANTARA) - Fourteen lecturers, staff members and 
stake holders of Indonesia`s Defense University (Unhan) of the Defence Ministry 
will study civil and military relations at the Netherlands Institute for 
International Relations, Clingendael in the Hague, the Netherlands.

The study on `Concepts and Practices of Human Rights in Civil-Military 
Relations will be carried out through a tailor made program for three weeks 
from 22 September to 14 October 2012 funded through a StuNed (Studeren in 
Nederlands) scholarship program from the Dutch government, the Director of 
Nuffic-Neso Indonesia, Mervin Bakker said in a press release received here 
Friday.

He explained in addition to the learning activities in classrooms, the 
participants also have an opportunity to learn the application of 
civil-military relations at the Netherlands Defence Academy (NLDA) which unites 
the institutes for general officers training, for all elements and all levels 
of the defence organization. .

"The participants will also make excursions to the related institutions in 
Amsterdam as well as the International Peace Palace and the International 
Criminal Court, the Parliament of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Ministry 
of Defense in the Hague," Mervin noted.

In accordance with the character modality of tailor made namely demand-driven 
base, the training curriculum as well as the outputs and post-training 
sustainable action plan will be set up by Unhan in collaboration with 
Clingendael.

"Thus, this training is really designed to meet the needs of the proposing 
organization," Mervin said.

Meanwhile, the rector of Unhan Lt.Gen.Dr.Syarifuddin Tippe, expressed his 
appreciation over the good cooperation with NufficNeso Indonesia and the Dutch 
government as the lecturers and researchers either military or civilian could 
have an opportunity to study in depth the practice of civil-military relations 
and human rights in the Netherlands.

"I hope the students can take advantage of this good opportunity to gain 
knowledge and broaden their views of civil-military relations that can 
contribute to improving the quality of education at the Indonesian Defence 
University in the future," he added.

The sustainability of the tailor made would be conducted by setting up the Back 
Home Action Plan (BHAP) for the participants. The BHAP preparation will be 
guided by Clingendael and it will be the main reference in implementing the 
work program at Unhan. 

In addition, within three months after returning from the Netherlands, the 
participants will conduct a workshop guided by experts from Clingendael.

NufficNeso Indonesia is a non-profit organization officially designated and 
funded by the Dutch government to address various issues related to higher 
education including managing StuNed scholarship for about 200 Indonesians in 
the form of master program and training.
