Jadi, vonis bebasnya di pengadilan memang untuk menjebloskan Zimmerman ke "hukuman" yang lebih berat, bebas berkeliaran tapi tetap terkurung dalam ketakutan.
Untuk kasus seperti ini, sangat lazim pelaku dihantui teror ketakutan akan datangnya pembalasan, baik di dalam maupun di luar bui. Bedanya, di dalam si pelaku bisa dilindungi dengan memasukkannya ke sel isolasi. Sedangkan di luar, dengan hak membela diri dengan senjata, pelaku bisa paranoid dengan resiko jatuhnya korban baru. Tapi yah Amerika kan katanya penjunjung HAM nomer wahid. Itu yang penting untuk pencitraan mereka.
