Student Regiment Insists on Inspecting Australian Citizens Friday, 07 April, 2006 | 15:03 WIB TEMPO Interactive, Yogyakarta: Twenty members of Mahakarta Students Regiment (Menwa) of the Indonesia Islamic University (UII), Yogyakarta, yesterday insisted on inspection (sweep) of Australian citizens at hotels in the Malioboro area, Yogyakarta. The action was due to the visas given by Australia to 42 Papuans. However, they did not find any Australian citizens. UII Menwa members had standard green uniforms similar to those of the Indonesian Military (TNI). "The Australian government underestimated our nation's dignity," said Fahrur Rozi, leader of the action. First, they entered the Inna Garuda Hotel at the north corner of Malioboro Street, which caught the receptionists by surprise. Then they went to the Ibis Hotel and Mutiara Hotel, about 500 meters from Inna Garuda. "We were shocked because a group that looked like the army came in suddenly," said one of the employees from the Inna Garuda Hotel.
