Indon pair held in anti-vice raid at Penang budget hotel A MAN, in his 50s, was caught literally with his pants down in a budget hotel in Penang on Sunday, Harian Metro reported. The naked man, who covered his body with a blanket when anti-vice enforcers broke into the hotel room, was with a woman in a negligee. The couple, Indonesians from Medan, admitted to the officers from the Penang Islamic Affairs Department that they were married, but not to each other. The Ops Sejuk Dinihari (Ops Cool Day), involving 12 men from the department headed by enforcement chief Faizal Ibrahim, also resulted in the detention of four other couples aged 20 to 30 in a spate of raids on several budget hotels in the city. Those arrested are liable to be charged under the state's Islamic laws, which provide for fines of up to RM3,000 and jail term of up to two years or both. The tabloid also reported that a 48-year-old woman attacked a man with a high-heeled shoe outside the Syariah lower court in Tumpat, Kelantan, after he denied that they had divorced. The 44-year-old man, the woman's fourth husband, had made the remark to prevent her from marrying again. The woman was in court to face a charge of khalwat (close proximity) with a man in his 30s whom she was caught with at a house in Kampung Gerong late last month. She waited outside the court canteen gate for her husband and struck him with her shoe, resulting in a commotion that drew many onlookers.
