This verse keeps popping up whenever I study the Christian bible -- their new TESTament! "How many lies can you can you count when you just can't sleep at night? And how many lies can you count before your heart is free? That's a question I'm still unable to answer 'Cause I'm still countin' the lies you told to me " "There's just no end to all the broken promises that I recall I was a fool to fall for you It hurts to know you played a game and went and had yourself a ball And through it all, made me blue" John ------------------------------ *Just One Questionable Historical Account--Is the New Testament Truthful?* ** The story of Jesus as related in the Christian Gospels and later Christian writings is filled with historical inaccuracies and accounts that have no historical support at all (inventions, fabricated stories) . The following examples illustrate this point: *Herod's Decree* There is no historical record outside the Christian Bible that Herod ever decreed all males to be killed *1* at birth (Matthew 2.16). Yet, it is argued by many biblical scholars that such a fateful event would have to have been recorded by other historians alive at that time. Even Josephus Flavius, a widely accepted Jewish historian who chronicled events during that very period in history makes no mention of any such decree by Herod. At the time when Herod's decree was supposedly issued, there was great political unrest in the land. Such a decree would have surely sparked a Jewish rebellion. Yet, no account of any such rebellion is to be found. The fact that the only source of this event is the Christian Bible, contradicts the way historical events were recorded. It is well-known that Herod was loathed during his reign, and many far less evil acts that Herod committed were carefully recorded in several historical sources. It is highly unlikely that an act of this magnitude would have been left out of any account in which Herod was involved. In addition, a most convincing proof of the fabrication of that event, is the fact that, according to the Christian Gospel of Luke, Herod was dead before Jesus was even born. This is just one of many examples that reveal how the authors of the Christian Bible intended to ensure the propagation of their new religion. By fabricating events, tying them to Tanachic verses, and then proclaiming the authenticity of Jesus' messiahship, the early Christians hoped to gain acceptance among the myriad of cults and religions that flourished during those turbulent years.
