When America's senior commander in Iraq, General David Petraeus, and
its ambassador in Baghdad, Ryan Crocker, brief Congress on the state of
the war from September 10th onwards, they will find a capital divided.
Much of Congress has decided that the war is lost and the troops should
be brought home. Others believe that General Petraeus's "surge" is
starting to work and that the politicians are in danger of losing a war
the army is beginning to win. ...
