Young boys charged with trying to rape a 60-year-old woman

AUSTIN - Two boys aged 11 and 14 have been charged with breaking
into a 60-year-old woman's home and trying to rape her in what
police said was an apparently premeditated and cold-blooded attack.
The boys wore bandanas and gloves and carried a 'rape kit' that
included items to restrain the victim when they broke through a
window of the woman's home in Austin in July, Detective Scott
Stanfield said on Monday.
They tied her to the bed and one of the boys tried to rape the woman
but stopped when her heart device was triggered, police told the
Austin American-Statesman. The boys were charged with burglary with
intent to commit sexual assault.
Some of the suspects whom police interviewed were able to 'lie
without emotion,' Detective Stanfied said.
A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were standing outside the
victim's house serving as lookouts, he said, but they have not been
charged because they did not break into the house.
The boys have been released from a juvenile detention center on
condition that they wear electronic monitoring devices, Detective
Stanfield said. -- AP
