Bombing hits Algerian police post A bomb has exploded near a police station in the Algerian city of Naciria, east of Algiers. It is not clear whether it was a suicide attack or a car bombing. Some reports say a number of people died.
There has been a upsurge in violence in Algeria in recent months. More than 40 people died in a suicide attack against a UN building in Algiers in December. Al-Qaeda's North African wing said it carried out that attack - whose victims included 17 UN staff.
