The number of Muslims in the town of 4000 inhabitants in Canada's Northwest Territories has grown steadily in recent years to about 80. They had prayed in a three-by-seven-metre caravan until they could no longer fit. The new mosque, dubbed the ''little mosque on the tundra'', is a prefabricated building shipped from Manitoba, making the last part of the journey down the McKenzie River by barge. The worshippers are largely Sunni Muslim immigrants from Sudan, Lebanon and Egypt. ''The sky is grey, but the light from the mosque and the minaret is bright,'' mosque committee member Amer Suliman said.
