A round of the applause from the 1,200 participants from 135 countries signified the success and closing of the Bangkok Declaration. During the closing ceremony, National Anti-Corruption Commission (NCCC) member Pakdee Phosiri concluded that the current corruption problems were connected to poverty, which led to further to instability of the nation. He added that the private sectors had to take part in solving corruption as well, given that 'it takes two to tango', therefore bribes and fraud can only happen when at least two parties are involved. Although the Declaration is not binding, the recommendations resulting from the conference should be taken and applied in ways suitable for each nation, Mr Pakdee added. The NCCC will set up a panel to analyze and utilize the meeting's suggestions in order to create effective anti-corruption policies. The 15th IACC will be held in Brazil two years from now.
