In Iraq, 12 arrested in connection with church siege

Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- Twelve people have been arrested in connection with the
deadly church siege in Baghdad last month, a senior official in Iraq's Interior
Ministry confirmed on Saturday.
The Islamic State of Iraq has claimed responsibility for the October 31 attack
on the Sayidat al-Nejat Cathedral, or Our Lady of Salvation Church, that killed
and wounded dozens of people.
The umbrella group includes a number of Sunni extremist organizations and has
ties to al Qaeda in Iraq.
Iraqi security forces made the arrests of the "suspected terrorists," who also
have links to al Qaeda in Iraq and a wave of Baghdad explosions on November 2,
the official confirmed. The arrests took place in recent days.
The report circulated earlier on Iraqiya state TV.
