Firstly heard this album in the mid of 1982, I thought it was unusual to catch. Also my first impression to Dan Fogelberg, this album is one of many which proves the talent and versatility of him. If you have ever in love of his beautiful ballads such (Longer (alb. Phoenix) or Believe In Me (alb. Windows and Walls), I would say you have no idea of how fluently poetic and lovely some of those works are. This album was the first of two duet projects by Fogelberg and flutist Tim Weisberg, they blended together so well that it sounds like two old friends having a good time. From its cover we can see the similarity, hair of both, just like brothers of different mothers. Fogelberg sound lends itself easily to the inclusion of woodwind to the elegant and romantic Paris Nocturne, or excerpt Guitar Etude No. 3. Surely one of the best melodies Fogelberg has ever created, and that's the spirit as a whole. Inilah salah satu album CD yg masuk daftar "Most Wanted" hingga kini, "Twin Sons of Different Mothers" (1978). Album studio kelima milik penulis, penyanyi, komposer dan musisi Daniel Grayling Fogelberg, ato kolaborasi pertama dgn sahabatnya sang jagoan flute Tim Weisberg. Fogelberg memiliki multi bakat sekaligus rekan di kalangan banyak genre meliputi folk, jazz, classical, hingga bluegrass, dan salah satu penggemar fanatiknya adalah Vince Gill. Sementara kuping Indonesia mungkin familiar dgn lagu "Longer" yg sering dinyanyikan banyak artis termasuk jadi pilihan favorit kontestan pada ajang American Idol. Fogelberg memang terlahir dari keluarga musikal, ayahnya veteran perang dunia II dan jadi guru musik sekolahan serta sang ibu guru piano klasik di Illinois. Khusus untuk ayahnya yg pernah memimpin band country lokal serta mendukung karirnya, ia khusus mempersembahkan sebuah balada bersemangat "Leader of the Band" menjelang wafatnya. Saat itulah ia menerima warisan sebuah 'old hawaiian slide guitar' di usia 14, yg memberi motivasi untuk mulai menulis lagu bahkan membentuk band sendiri. Album Twin Sons of Different Mothers jelas merangkum pergaulan dan keluwesannya seperti bertemu Tim Weisberg (flute) dan Neil Larsen (piano) di Jazz, juga ada country-man Graham Nash, Don Henley vokalis The Eagles. Sebagai pembuka adalah tiga nomor instrumental, Twins Theme, Intimidation, dan khususnya Lazy Susan yg mengekspos duel gitar lawan flute. Pada balad Since You've Asked menampilkan desahan Judy Collin dimana lagu ini sempat popular sbg lagu pernikahan, serta Tell Me To My Face merupakan adaptasi versi rock dari miliknya The Hollies. Nomor favoritku pribadi ada pada instrumental Paris Nocturne, kelincahan Guitar Etude No. 3, serta Lahaina Luna untuk bisa dibilang adalah perekat untuk semua lagu keseluruhan jika ingin ditinjau sbg album konsep. Sementara pilihan judul album "Anak Kembar Dari Beda Emak", lebih merupakan selera humornya Fogelberg terutama melihat foto cover album. Dimana keduanya mejeng bak foto keluarga, kemiripan kembar terutama sama brewokan plus rambut gondrongnya. Nah, ada yg bisa membantuku mendapatkan CD album originalnya?
