U.K. Bans Pastor Terry "Burn a Koran" Jones The U.K. government gave the cold shoulder to a U.S. pastor who tried to enter Britain on Wednesday, reports CNN. Reason? The pastor is none other than Terry Jones, infamous instigator of "Burn a Koran Day," a plan to set ablaze thousands of the copies of the Muslim holy book last Sept. 11. "The government opposes extremism in all its forms which is why we have excluded pastor Terry Jones from the UK," said a U.K. government spokesperson in a statement. "Numerous comments made by Pastor Jones are evidence of his unacceptable behaviour. Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right." Jones, 58, disagreed with the decision, promising legal action to counter what he regards as an attack on "basic principles of freedom of religion and freedom of speech," he told CNN. The pastor abandoned his Koran burning antics after U.S. Afghanistan commander Gen. David Petraeus himself said the stunt would be dangerous to U.S. troops oversees. Undaunted, the Florida pastor has continued to promote his book, Islam Is of the Devil. Jones was traveling to the U.K. to attend what CNN calls "rallies and book signings" and the Guardian describes as "a series of demonstrations organized by a far-right group against the expansion of Islam and the construction of mosques in the UK."
