Man walks 1,600km to marry fiancee Liu Peiwen from China is willing to do anything for love. The Chinese national has embarked on a 1,000 mile (1,600km) trip as requested his fiancée. Quoting the lyrics of Scottish band, the Proclaimers' 1988 hit single I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), she said she would marry him if he would run the extra mile for her. Read the famous lyrics: "I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more/ To be the man who walks 1,000 miles to fall down at your door." Liu took the words seriously. He is currently undertaking the lengthy journey from the central province of Henan to his Proclaimers-loving girlfriend Ling Hsueh's home in Guangdong. "The distance from here to her hometown in the Guangdong province, in southeastern China, is 1,600 kilometers - which is exactly 1,000 miles," he said. "When I get there I hope she is waiting for me and I will ask her again - and I hope she says yes." Liu is expected to complete his journey in six weeks.
