There were two powerful shocks within 30 seconds, both shaking the earth like a jackhammer. Tourists scrambled to open ground while office workers stampeded for the exits from swaying buildings. A school roof reportedly caved in, a major supermarket lost much of its concrete-rendered facade, homes suffered major damage, at least one motorcyclist was tossed from his bike and a car was crushed by debris. Advertisement: Story continues below The epicentre of the 6.0 magnitude temblor, as measured by the US Geological Survey, was underwater about 140 kilometres south-west of Bali's capital, Denpasar. There was no tsunami threat, mostly superficial damage to property and, while about 32 people went to the island's main Sanglah hospital, all were released within a few hours after suffering only minor injuries. Most of those hurt were injured in the stampede from buildings when the tremor first hit. The evacuation of the 14-year-old boy detained in Denpasar police headquarters was abandoned as it became apparent the earthquake was not serious. Nonetheless, Australian tourists - including AFL footballers on end-of-season trips - were panicked, hitting social media sites to relay their experiences. Collingwood forward Travis Cloke said on Twitter: ''OK. That was different, earthquake in Bali. It was a good 20sec of rock and rolling!!''
