hello dear devs, I am sending a reminder that we will cut the Prometheus 2.25 release candidate next week.
There are multiple pull requests in flight, and I'd like to see them land ASAP before the release: https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/8425 This should be in the release because it makes the @ modifier in PromQL a lot more useful. There are oustanding comments on the documentation. https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/8424 Remote write receiver on Prometheus side. The pull request is easy but there is an outstanding comment in the design doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PpTDtVaKAnhMRxBJ0k7_rCQ3Z3uJVcALgdPo0QpObSk/edit Ben suggests a second binary for this, which could not scrape. I think that as we plan to have a binary which would be scrape-and-remote-write (the agent), having 3 binaries will be too much. Also, how would you monitor the receiver if it is in another network? I'd rather have this in a fully capable Prometheus binary. Note that there is still work to be done for prometheus.io, explaining the difference and use case vs federation, and explaining that this is not for push based monitoring. https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/6635 This one is for the exemplars. It is a huge pull request that was not on my radar. I will not have the time to do a full review of it, but Ganesh seems busy with that. If he is confident, we could have it, but it does seem a risky PR that I would rather delay until the next release. It also seems that Grafana has added support and announced that it would be there for Prometheus 2.25, however, the API is not finalized and there are valid unaddressed concerned, like https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/6635/files#r498224939 That is the status of the big PR's, any feedback appreciated. -- Julien Pivotto @roidelapluie -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Prometheus Developers" group.
