Support for aws-sdk-go(v1) is ending at the end of the month[1]. There have
been some efforts to get this upgraded to aws-sdk-go-v2 across some of the
prometheus projects including prometheus itself but there did not seem to
be anything ready to ship this week. I took some time and have created a
new PR [2] with the required upgrades and code changes, but I currently
lack an active AWS environment to test with and I have never needed to use
the EC2 or Lightsail SD myself. I am requesting help testing and verifying
these changes from anyone that has an AWS account that they can use. Even
better if you rely on the EC2 SD and can validate that these changes do not
change the expected behavior.

Most of the changes are related to setting credentials and the region, but
there are also some minor changes around the filters including instance
state, type, lifecycle, and architecture. It would be good to test all of
these if possible. Any help is appreciated as there is not much time before
support ends for the old version. If you are able to test, please post your
results to the PR for visibility.

Long term it would also be nice to have some ability to have a way to test
these SDs so if anyone would like to help on that front, let us know.

Thanks
Joe Adams
