Sorry I'm still not sure what you're asking about.

All the config goes into Prometheus config file. You shouldn't have to do
anything with Istio.

Prometheus will scrape metrics targets that you tell it about in the config
file, either via static config or service discovery, and then send to your
configured remote write.
