Silicon Image were one of the first in this space (with their PanelLink 
stuff).  They have quite a few app notes and the datasheets are useful as 
well.  I am not sure but I think that major parts of the electrical parts 
of the DVI spec are a standardised version of their work.

We found their stuff helpful - but we were using a couple of their devices 
so I can't really say how helpful it is if you are doing a roll-your-own or 
using some other manufacturers parts.

www.siliconimage.com - pain of a site - whizzy bits at the beginning and 
then takes an age to load the real home page even on DSL.
