Printed Circuit Board Designer Working predominantly with R&D engineers, this person reports to the Drawing Office Manager on a day-to-day and personal/performance basis. The person would work on PCB's in all three of Tru-Test's product areas - electric fence, electronic (livestock) scales and milk meters. Requirements Using Protel for circuit and layout design of single, double and multi-layer PCB designs using pin-in-hole and surface mount componentry. Outputting all the necessary drawings for complete product documentation and manufacture. Maintaining a record of PCB specific changes made to any designs. Preparing and maintaining company guidelines for the use of Protel and associated component libraries to ensure all work is to the same high standard. Providing guidance to electronic engineers who are producing their own designs. Following all designs from concept to output-ready files for PCB manufacturer. This would include any circuit designs and layouts produced by other staff. Understanding of modern PCB fabrication and best practice to ensure good yield at manufacture, and enable effective communication with suppliers on any inquiries or problems that arise. Understanding of the different wave/reflow soldering options, and work closely with production staff to optimise for assembly. Experience This person should have at least 2-4 years of relevant experience following receipt of tertiary qualifications, or may have acquired advanced Protel skills but only limited experience in a commercial environment. Minimum tertiary qualification is likely to be either NZCE (elec.), or a lesser qualification but with appropriate experience. This person may not be familiar with Protel, but would be expected to become proficient after suitable training that would be provided. Salary will be dependent upon experience/demonstrated ability.
