As far as I know everything except the matching data that the synchroniser 
uses to match Sch symbols to PCB components is saved in ASCII format.

This fact, that the synchroniser data is not saved, is a useful thing when 
the associations are stuffed up and you want to reset them all.

(The most common way of stuffing up the synch is to use a mix of Update PCB 
and Netlist load operations.)
