Portalul cultural al evenimentelor culturale din Grecia http://www.cultureguide.gr/ a fost inchis printr-o decizie administrativa arbitrara si personalul concediat. Acesta era principalul punct de informare pe Internet pentru evenimente culturale din Grecia si avea numerosi vizitatori, inclusiv turisti in vizita in Grecia. Sistarea finantarii unui portal cultural care facea un important serviciu public a provocat un val de proteste internationale. Reteaua portalurilor culturale CULTURE.MONDO http://www. culturemondo.org si numeroase organizatii si-au exprimat dezacordul si au manifestat temeri privind amestecul politicului in libera exprimare in domeniul culturii, exercitarea unei cenzuri financiare si lipsa de continuitate in sprijinirea unor servicii publice culturale de valoare recunoscuta pe plan national si international.
