There are a bunch of C implementations but I think the most common ones are
upb <https://github.com/protocolbuffers/upb>, protobuf-c
<https://github.com/protobuf-c/protobuf-c>, and nanopb
<https://jpa.kapsi.fi/nanopb/>.
