In v30, we will drop support for Bazel 6 and change the minimum support level for MacOS to v11. You can read more about support levels for languages, OSes, and tools in https://github.com/google/oss-policies-info/tree/main.
Changes are coming in the v30.x release, planned for the first quarter of 2025. Some of these changes are outlined in a News article released on October 2: https://protobuf.dev/news/2024-10-02 and November 7: https://protobuf.dev/news/2024-11-07. The changes listed in the articles may not be exhaustive; we anticipate additional changes may be announced. We will send out emails to let you know about additional News articles. You can also subscribe to our now-mostly-fixed RSS feed: https://protobuf.dev/index.xml. Note that the date metadata is not working just yet. We’re working to fix that. In addition to the v30.x release changes, there are upcoming changes to how proto rules are handled in Bazel. You can read about these changes in https://protobuf.dev/news/2024-10-01. Note that the changes happening in v29 shouldn’t require immediate action when using Bazel 8 or earlier, but should be addressed before Bazel 9 is released, which is anticipated in late 2025. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Protocol Buffers" group.
