Hi,

It's well worth giving the API a quick read: http://api.prototypejs.org
It only takes about an hour, but it gives you a good idea of what
Prototype provides and how it provides it.

In terms of your specific requirement, in Prototype it looks like
this:

    $$('#frm-contact > label').invoke('hide');
