I came across these two things while reading about CubeSat and
small-sat mission design:

'NORM' NACK-Oriented Reliable Multicast

http://cs.itd.nrl.navy.mil/work/norm/

Which looks like a communication standard built around a similar sort
of UDP scheme we came up with for the flight computer.

And 'LCM' Lightweight Communications and Marshalling

https://code.google.com/p/lcm/

Which I think is a higher level abstraction for sending messages over
a real time network.

Both seemed to be suggested or actually employed for aerospace-y
things. I thought it would be of someones interest to look over them.
