Hi everyone,

This Friday, the college of engineering is taking proposals for the
Innovation Program: http://www.pdx.edu/cecs/innovation-program

That's $1k immediately, and then a follow on $3k if approved, for any
project that you propose and that the innovation council thinks is
innovative enough to fund. We've already won a bunch of these, and
they're asking us to submit more.

If you're an undergraduate or graduate student at PSU, and you'd like
money to build rocket bits, then we'll totally support you writing your
1 page proposal and help you with your project.

Here are just a few of the "innovative" ideas we have, if you're
interested in digging up a project:

- Avionics
   - Next generation patch antenna design
   - Antennas integrated into a composite airframes
   - Next generation GPS board with onboard FPGA or DSP processor
- Airframe
   - Antennas integrated into a composite airframes
   - Novel recovery systems based in the nosecone
- Propulsion
   - Ultra small scale LOX/Kerosene motor demonstration
   - Hobby airplane DC brushless motor propellant pump demonstration
- Communications
   - Record-breaking transmission of Wifi across 500 km (Mt Hood to Balloon)

If you're interested in any of these, or have some ideas yourself, drop
me an email. Or even better, jot them down on a Google doc and share it
with me. We'll help you write your proposal.

Andrew
