*Radiation effects in contemporary CMOS technologies and a novel technique
to characterize them*


Current CMOS technologies are vulnerable to certain radiation effects which
need to be characterized and mitigated to guarantee reliable operation. We
describe a laser-based method to characterize these effects which has many
advantages over traditional characterization based on high-energy particle
beam facilities. This method enables the study of single-event data upset
(SEU) and single-event latch-up in a much more detailed manner than
previously possible.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments provided.
