OD-Network series
2005 - Organizational Engineering Workshop
June, 22. 9.00 am to 4.00 pm
Menara Peninsula Jakarta

What is Organizational Engineering?

Organizational Engineering is focused on the understanding,
measurement, prediction and guidance of the behavior of groups using
information processing methodologies.

This workshop offers tools and method extensively field tested in
firms and organizations of all types. The technology and tools have
been used at all organizational levels.

Organizational Engineering is unique in that it does not rely on
psychology to arrive at its highly accurate assessments, predictions
and counsel. Rather, human beings are seen as information processing
organisms. Groups are viewed as an information exchange network
guided by fundamental principals and observable structures.

The use of this unique information source means that it is
complementary with other tools that may have proved useful in
specific organizational contexts. A reasonable analogy is with the
use of a MRI scan and an X-ray. Both address the same subject but
furnish different information-one on the soft tissue and the other
on the skeletal structure. Organizational Engineering is concerned
with structural interactions that compel behaviors which can be
assessed, predicted and forecast with a high degree of observable
accuracy recognizable by both third party observers and the
participants themselves.

Organizational Engineering has multiple tools available to address
group behavior. All are focused on optimizing the relationship
between people. None are designed to change the behavior of any
single individual.
