I should add that I'm eager to hear everyone's thoughts on how
such a thing should be built.  I'm not trying to *fend off* an
implementation here, you understand, I just want to make sure
that its properties are well-understood before we build it.

I've been following up on my own messages a lot lately.  Must be
the sign of a disorganized mind.
