Note: I also did an: "export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH" in root console just in case that was the problem. Evidently not as /.configure is still missing gtk+ etc...
Hum, i guess gtk2 = gtk2+. Can you please send your config.log file?
