Install the emu-tools rpm from creative's sourceforge page. 
http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1/

This will provide a conf file and a script to be ran at boot time. 
Within the conf file you can define features such as digital out,
front channel suppression, surround sound, and various other features.
 The script will also allow your mixers to configure bass/treble (a
_VERY_ good thing).  I have rfe'd Red Hat to include emu-tools in the
past, and I will do it again.  I think it improves sound quality at
least x5.
