Thank you for the replies.  I'll have to do some
research on the iptables issue.  All I want to do is
share the printer attached to my linux box with my
windows laptop and I was hoping I could do this easily
in RH 8.0.

I was relying on Chapter 16 of the Customization Guide
of the RH 8.0 documentation, which  states that the
default smb.conf file should be enough to connect to
your samba shares from a windows computer using the
same username and password.  It makes no mention of
having to configure the firewall to allow samba to
function.

The documentation should probably be revised a little
in this regard.
