I use my local mirror all the time for NFS and HTTP network installs. I'm certain that it's a valid installation source.

Here's what I use for NFS installs:

server name: rhinstall
directory: /exports/redhat/8.0/en/os/i386
Is everything in that path the same filesystem?
I tried with local files and loopback mounted *.iso
files and worked. But over NFS, only the upper directorty was exported,
not the loopback mounts for each disk.

You cannot use the --isodir option over NFS.
The runtime kernel doesn't support loopback over
the network like the install kernel does.

redhat-config-packages --tree=/mnt/8.0/en/os/i386
That worked for local files.

Executing the above, I still get the error message "Installation Tree Not Found. The path /mnt/8.0/en/os/i386 does not look like a valid
Is the .diskinfo file in there? Can you post it's contents?

installation source." Similar error message for the second with the / at the end.
That's what I got when exporting a symlink tree to the loop
mounted iso files.

I don't enough free space for the files and the iso's. :(
