GTK2/Qt3 are using the new fontconfig/Xft2 fonts, a fontsel thingy for
those would be relatively pointless.
How about something like Bitstreams Font Navigator?
Or the way Windoze 9x displays text/charset of of
a given font when you "open" the font file.
Currently fonts are recognized as such in nautilus,
but nothing can be done with them.
