Hi Chris,
Apologies if I'm wrong, but it seems your not familiar with the idea of a
control surface?
the 003 is an audio interface on one hand, so it can send your audio,
analogue and digital in and out to the protools software.
The questions you are asking are about its functions as a control surface.
So the 003 can give you access to parameters of almost any plugin you open,
for example, if you ope an equaliser plug in window, the 003 automatically
maps on to its parameters, if the equaliser has more parameters than the 003
has dedicated physical nobs to control, then you can use a bank up and bank
down button to move through the parameters that the 003 is cntroling.
In addition the 003 has faders so you control the volume of tracks (also
bankable) and there are many editing keys on it, and various combinations.
If you read the mannual you'll get an idea on what it does.
It can do some things that you can't achieve using voice over alone, and
manipulating plug ins is one of these main advantages. However, its all
dependent on how familiar you get with the 003 and how good a work flow you
develop with it.
So like most things, if you get fast and efficient at working o n it, it
could be miles better for you than using a computer keyboard alone.
Hope this helps,
Brian.

Subject: RE: digi003 questions?
Hi,
Thanks for the tip, as far as plugin paremeters, are you talking about
say,
boosting lows in EQ, pulling back mids, adjusting the amount of reverb
that
goes on a track, etcetera? What are some other advantages anyone can think
of?
Thanks,
Chris Harrington

The digi 003 is very tightly integrated with Pro Tools. One very
important thing you can do from the unit that you can't do as easily or
elegantly is to control plug-in parameters. I've used it here at school
quite a bit.

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of getting PT, and I am trying to get the digi003
with
it. Here's my question... What al can you do with the 003 that you can't
do
in PT? Or what does the control surface make easier in PT? Also, does it
give you access to things that aren't accessible yet? From a totally
blind
standpoint, what does the control surface make easier?
Thanks a lot,
