Joe,
To follow up with Slau the deal still sounds good for the control surface
and HD hardware.
Like slau said their are three kind of cards out there and you should see if
the cards are the latest pci-e. This way you have the best of the old
hardware. Even though it's at the end of life you may be able to trade in
the HD cards for the new HDX card. If you want to jump into a very powerful
and stable HD rig, it may be the way to go for now.

Hi Joe,
I wasn't referring to the Command 8. I was saying that I'm not sure whether
the D Command or the D Control was in the Icon family.
Anyway, I know you're new to the Pro Tools world and some of the terminology
can be a little confusing. Just a few things, FYI:
HD3 simply means it's a TDM system with 3 HD cards. Thus an HD2 system is
just 2 HD cards, etc. The HD Accel was the next generation with twice the
processing power of the original HD and, a little known fact, the last PCI
iteration of HD Accel had even twice the power of the original HD Accel,
although Avid never advertised that.
The original 192 I/O had no other distinction than just HD. In other words,
there was never a 192 HD3. Some people are unaware of that. There was a 192
Digital I/O but still it was just HD. Those interfaces were around from 2001
to 2011. Presently, of course, there are several different 192s.
What you'd be getting in that system is quite powerful but it's on the verge
of being underpowered for Pro Tools 10. The HDX cards are truly many times
more powerful than the original HD cards. Yes, you can use a Magma chassis
and load up on used cards but, again, you'd be buying a technology at the
later stages of its life cycle. That said, the price sounds good even if
only for the surface itself.

Vin, everything that comes with the 192 is HD3. That would include the
cards and 192 although I don't know which 192. I was a bit
disappointed to do a Google search and find out that the HD3 is not as
good as the HDx on up so what does that mean if I were to get this.
Slau, The D-command is in the Icon family. I think you may be talking
about the Commander 8 but this is the next version after the D-control
and supposedly does even more according to reviews. Please check out
these 2 links about the D-command so I can be sure I know what I'm
talking about. this is from Avid
http://www.avid.com/us/products/icon-d-command-es/features
and this is from Sweetwater with more of a description.

It's 6:A.M right now and if I get some feedback from you guys giving
the go ahead I can get this today. Pricing both D-command and C24 the
8 fader D-command is around $12,000 and an additional $10,000 for the
other 16 modules. I found a C24 on ebay for $8000 with light use.
Lastly, should I be concerned with motors on the D-command giving out
since it's used?
