Something else very very strange

All of a sudden, if I go into an audio track, interact with it, and look at 
the level meter, it doesn't seem to be moging when I very clearly know there 
is signal getting to the track, as well... for one... i easily can hear it 
in the monitor of the DAW, and two my interface gain is definitely up at a 
level where I know signal should be, and for that mind, is, getting through.

What the heck could I a done to cause this!
