Okay. I know that this is been discussed up here before, so thus forgive
me.
I only just now have recently obtained an iPad third-generation,
therefore,
I now present you with this question. First of all, yes, I do have some
usable vision, though not enough to read what is on the iPad screen. Not
even close. I can see some shapes on the screen, and if I'm lucky, I
might
be able to make out some color here and there, but that's about it. With
this said, and also considering the amount of vision loss that I have, I
am
curious: are there any third-party apps if I could download through the
app
store which would allow me to use ProTools with my iPad, with my iPad
acting
as a full-fledged control surface? I remember trying one with my iPhone
while that, and it was extremely inaccessible! At best, I could get it to
barely read. I just figure, that would be so awesome to be able to sit
across the room, and have somebody near the microphone where my control
interface currently is sitting on the desk, this way, I would not have to
worry about them getting up, me having to run all the way over to the
control interface, turn the volume's up-and-down, set things up on
ProTools
et cetera. I could allow the client to stay where they're at, yet I could
be
sitting over on the couch controlling things on the go. And, could also
be
doing it completely in real-time. You asked me: why can you not just put
the
surface across the room, or do the same with my interface? You don't
understand how my studio is set up believe me. There's not any way that
could be done. It would be impossible with the way the floor plan of this
particular room is laid out. I know, that probably sounds like more of a
personal problem than anything, however, I just need some advice on how I
could get this to work. My desk is cluttered enough as it is And I was
barely able to get the fast track see 400 on the desk let alone an entire
control surface. This is why I am hoping that there is someway remotely I
could do this. Yes, there is always using a Bluetooth keyboard, which
actually, it's what I have been doing in the past. But that is definitely
not very ideal. Especially considering that I am using the flat aluminum
Apple Bluetooth wireless iMac keyboard. This keyboard for those who do
not
know does not have a numeric keypad on it. Thus, editing is pretty much
out
of the question. Plus, not only that, but if I wanted to ever automate
fade,
or something of the sort at the end of the song, etc. etc., that would be
a
bit in accurate trying to do that with a regular keyboard. If the price
is
right, and if you guys can promise me that it would be accessible, I
would
be willing to get an app for my iPad that would help with this, and that
would allow me to connect it to my Pro tools so that I could use ProTools
with the iPad acting as a control surface. And audio tutorials sent to me
either on sunspace, or dropbox would be wonderful demonstrating the
functionality, however if that is not feasible, I will take you guys at
your
word. I definitely do trust you Walce judgment. Here are my specs. I
currently am running iOS six on an iPad third-generation. It is a Wi-Fi
only, 16 gig, black. I don't think that that matters, but just wanted to
include that information just in case. On the Mac side of things, I am
running ProTools 10.0, I have not upgraded to any later build a version
10
due to the accessibility situations which I experienced. That is very
debatable, and I am not about to get into war flame regarding the
accessibility. Don't even go there. If you do, I will not even respond. I
have my reasons for staying back, and frankly, 10.0 alone fits my
workflow
perfectly. Once icy that some of those accessibility issues have been
fixed,
I will definitely then consider upgrading, but anyway that is not a topic
for this email. So we will not go there as it is totally irrelevant. I am
running ProTools on a partition, which is running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
Again, yes, I could use lion, but for my workflow, I find that dual
booting
between Mountain lion, and Snow Leopard which I am using for my audio
stuff,
works absolutely flawlessly, so why give more than what I really need.
You
know what I'm saying? Anyway, I would be honored to hear you all's
opinions
on this, and what you all might recommend hooking me up with, that would
do
